Sale of a business
Michael Lim was fantastic in helping us with the contract and the sale of our café. He was professional, knowledgeable and made the whole process much easier for us. Michael explained everything clearly, responded to our questions quickly and made sure everything was handled properly from start to finish. Selling a business can be stressful, but we felt confident knowing Michael was looking after the legal side for us. We really appreciate all his help and would highly recommend Michael to anyone needing assistance with a business sale or contract.

Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently asked questions
Answers to the questions clients ask most. Can’t see yours? Send us a message.
What happens if my land is compulsorily acquired?
An acquiring authority can acquire land or business interests under the Land Acquisition (Just Terms Compensation) Act 1991 (NSW). We advise on the process and your entitlement to compensation.
What compensation can I claim?
Compensation can include market value, disturbance, special value, severance and solatium, depending on your circumstances.
Can a business be compensated, not just the landowner?
Yes. We advise business owners on valuation, relocation and re-establishment, or extinguishment of the business, and the compensation that follows.
What is a hardship application?
A landowner may ask an authority to acquire land early on the grounds of hardship. We advise on whether the threshold requirements can be met.
What if I disagree with the Valuer-General’s determination?
The Land and Environment Court is the only forum to review a Valuer-General determination. We represent landowners and business owners in those proceedings.
Which acquiring authorities have you dealt with?
We have negotiated with authorities including Transport for NSW, Roads & Maritime Services, Ports Authority of NSW, Sydney Water and local councils across NSW.
Is there a time limit to dispute the compensation offered?
Yes. Strict time limits apply to objecting to the Valuer-General’s determination and starting proceedings in the Land and Environment Court, so it is important to get advice as soon as you receive a compensation notice.
How do I contact Project Lawyers about a matter?
Still have a question?
Tell us about your matter and our team will get back to you.
